Some options:
a. if you have an optical output on the laptop/PC, you can use the optical input
b. use a USB-AES/SPDIF or Firewire-AES/SPDIF device
I use a Wavelink HS and it's pretty good hooked to my other DACs, and I suppose you can use a XLR-coax adaptor, but the Berkeley Alpha USB uses the same firmware/design but provides AES.
I am currently using a Weiss INT202 which is a Firewire to AES box. I think it sounds a bit more analog than the Wavelink.
