How to add DSP to Audible Illusions Pre

I have a 2 channel DSP that I have purchased used, but never hooked up.
I am considering trying this out, but what is the normal method for that?

There is a “Source”/“Tape” switch on the left hand side of the preamp.
Do I just output the line level via the “Tape In” —> DSP —> “Tape Out”

Which reminds me I should do an REW sweep pretty soon, to get an idea as to why I should consider doing this. (Probably before I actually start doing it)

Yes, that's how to connect.
Following your other thread, if you go to a Roon solution, DSP is built in and this device may not be needed any longer. Just a thought...Cheers,
Spencer
Thanks @sbank

  • Yeah I know that the AVR does it, but it is still in route, and I am not sure if it does 2.1 very well…
  • Plus I cannot come into it with RCAs, from vinyl.
  • And I already have the DSP, so getting it working is a goal.
  • Then if I do not need it I can always set it up for as part of a chain for one of the kiddies.
I’d better get my other honey-dos done, and get REW running on the NUC as step #1.

The DSP is a FIR based unit, so it does time and phase. The one inside of the HT/AVR-Pre I am uncertain about… So it might be that the HT/AVR would not be applying much correction to the L/R?
I have Neutrik XLR—> RCA to sneak the L/R into the 2.1 preamp/amp/speakers.
