I used to own CT-1 RCA and thought it was very good. Ended up with Teo liquid STD mkII. Interested in auditioning some new speaker cables. Some brands which look appealing is MG-audio PlanusIII or their new silver model,Sablon,Ocellia and of course HF. I`m particularity interested in the MG. Anyone compared MG to HF? Or know of a good cable suitable for high efficiency speakers 114db? Will only be needing for frequencies 270Hz and above as the rest is taken care of and adjustable. Any opinions would be much appreciated. |
Agisthos, I thought I was clear on that in my other posts regarding the XLR etc. I clearly expalin my system(at the time) and clearly state my personal findings. I understand totally for a long time now regarding all the variables. I am very aware how different cable react in different systems, burn in and moving them and all that. One of the reasons I use a cable cooker. Only after a cable has been cooked and installed in a familiar system for X amount of time can a cable be fairly judged in THAT system IMO. Funny how the cheaper Sablon audio cable customers seem to think Sablon cables are better than, or virtually equal, all the familiar cables we talk about at many times the cost. So Sablon send their cables fully cooked with a Audiodharma(same as my cooker) where as most others do not. Interesting. Anyway, just simply looking for a bit of fuel to fire my next purchase even if it is kind of irrelevant regarding system, personal tastes etc. This is one of the reasons we have these forums right? Fun to read as well right, even if can`t be taken seriously most of the time considering all the variables etc. Be OK if we all had the same ears and the same systems and the same environment lol. But wheres the fun in that.
Seems everyone is happy with the new HF stuff. Great. If you read my Teo - High fidelity comparisons from last year connected to my older inferior system everyone can see how much I did indeed like CT-1 and how I made it clear how I plan to audition more HF in the future.
TBG, we already went through this in the other forum. Did you really feel it necessary to unfairly bash Teo again? especially considering your limited time with some Teo ic that you don`1t even recall the model etc. You are the only one to ever bash Teo on the net. And when companies like Teo get chosen/contracted to do the acoustics in a main reception venue for the royal rep family.... umm yea. Make no mistake they are ultra high end just like Ricks cables. Can we stick to topic.
Guys, I am just seeking some possible comments on the cables I mentioned and if anyone has compared any of them to HF CT-1E or U. Speaker cables please. Yes I will try HF IC again, CT-1E/U, in my upgraded system against my Teo *STD MkII* at a later date. They will be cooked and given a fair run straight from DAC to amps in a highly sensitive accurate neutral system.
Please I would really appreciate - only answer my post if it is relating to my specific question. |

Agisthos, have you auditioned the MG Planus III ?
|
F - actually I posted my last 2 replies before I even seen yours. So was not referring to you at all mate. Maybe just takes longer for mine to show up since I am in Kanguru land? But thanks and thanks everyone else too. I have contacted Jonas Harrow(HF dealer)here in my state and looks like he may be able to help me to audition some of Ricks new lines some time in the near future. I shall post my thoughts after thorough evaluation. Anyone planning to sell their E versions? |
Hey guys, Jonas Harrow(Oz) will hook me up with some IC`s to audition. I have already received some personal mails regarding the IC`s. Not to worried about IC atm. I`m well covered in this area. Mainly the speaker cable I am interested in. My system doesn`t require long lengths either. So if anyone has any more thoughts regarding the SC then I`m surely interested. Specifically the E version. Anyone planing to move up to the U in the near future?
|
Thanks Calloway. Yes seems there are many `E` version IC`s around. I have had a few offers and noticed quite a few on the net. Some good prices. Can get here in kanguru land good price from Jonas too. More interested in the `E` speaker cables atm though. |
haha nice 1 Gaz! Ok will look into it. Oh and any1 thinking this guy doesnt know sh*t about cables well gaz(ex Teo&HF) is the true father "explorer" of cables haha... but yea seriously I take what he states kinda seriously. PCA ? OK Email me with more info if applicable Gary plz. ITMT will look into it and keep in mind |
FFS this thread has turned into a real secret girls club. What`s wrong with you guys???(excluding Calvinj and few others) Firstly I agree, from my experience, High Fidelity cables is kinda special. Obviously better than MOST under virtually any circumstance...... but cmon now! If a gentleman is interested in our experience with other cables in W/E system and W/E circumstance, or regardless of, then why not.... who cares?! You guys are really that concerned you are going to lead some innocently inquiring gentleman astray or something? We`re all big boys with big toys and obviously some somewhat big wallets.... so chill out! I`m sure we all understand variables and percentages which can make things very difficult for any accurate general assessment blah blah blah. So what. We hear this a million times. I even say it myself. I just read all these posts above dribbling on about why we shouldn`t reveal our past cables and I must say I`m bored to death yet kind of stunned. By now you all could have listed at least some, with or with out extra details, and just got on with it. If someone makes some sense from it then great. If not then so be it. These things are sometimes interesting/fun to know(remember the old audioreview.com days) and sometimes just sometimes actually can help! This is partially what these forums are supposed to be about. Don`t we have enormously enough control dictatorship in this `hide everything from the masses` messed up world already? Now it has pretty much entered a audio cable thread lol. Well this is just dandy. FWIW I will join Calvin and list some myself next time I get on here. It`s been a long time between cables for me. Regarding IC`s I have currently settled on, as some of you already know, older generation Teo liquid MkII(latest greatest Teo Ref$ coming) but shall check out HF again(CT-1U model) at a later date. Will be auditioned on a SOTA highly accurate 114db-sensitive short signal path open baffle horn system. Straight from 768kHz DAC into speaker baffle mounted amps(enclosed in large phase plugs) which are isolated from the open 3x 15" drivers firing from behind(woofers don`t touch baffle). . Of course would be happy to provide any extra specific detail on past cables or w/e if anyone is interested. Ok carry on with all the justifications for secretly withholding innocently requested harmless relevant possibly interesting information. Have fun *rolls eyes* |
Wig, agreed. Helps with any cable. Hence why I got a Audiodharma latest spec... |
Iblieve, I owned the CT-1 and auditioned CT-1E. Have not heard the Ultimate yet. I simply love Teo in my system. As I explained - I am purchasing current updated top model Teo ParaHelios(Reference) which is described to be a large step up from the Teo cable I posses. Extremely excited about this purchase! Bank account will have seen better days lol To be fair, and out of interest, I shall en-devour to audition CT-1U in the near future. My mind is open. Will probably be early next year some time. |
Thanks Jwm. OK I`ll have one more shot simply because Tbg thinks everything is irrelevant when actually EVERYTHING is relevant!! Einstein once said that everything is relevant, and making things relevant is key to being able to deal with an ever increasing picture.
Firstly if any previous cables have in fact been mentioned before then is it so hard to just post the web address of those posts? Err,Tbg, why sucha kill joy? Havn`t your latest points already been made clear? You wasted a full paragraph reiterating your justifications when you could have just listed those 15 cables lol. Don`t list your past cables then dude, if it is such a big deal, but can you also stop trying to be controlling and righteous maybe. Negative vibes.
Ok I`ll try to spell it out with some obvious examples since I have a bit of spare time right now. Havn`t dribbled on here for a while so why not.
What if someone might be on the verge of buying some cable, cable might happen to be on my previous cable list, and at the same time interested in HF. Now seeing this cable listed by me, and seeing how I preferred HF, now he may think twice and research more or ask questions which he may not have before. It is a cop out to simply tell someone to just go try them all for themselves(even though it`s obviously the best way) and nothing more. Or to simply state one cables superiority and nothing more. What if someone is inexperienced and or someone with limited FUNDS figures out brands such as Teo and HF are benchmark brands and comes to this thread to get some advice from experienced users as to which lesser cables `might` be close or good choice. Regardless of or considering his specific system or w/e. What if someone doesn`t want to go through what most of us have. How does he get advise? Go read some reviews? But reviews are somewhat `irrelevant` due to all the points guys like Tbg have made over and over right. Same thing goes for all our past experiences with cables apparently. Of course there will always be little agreement. Was there meant to be? That would make this cable fascination ..... well much less fascinating to say the least now wouldn`t it. Sure it is hard to make heads or tails sometimes. BUT with some tools such as research on specific users and components and tastes etc, connecting dots, process of elimination, cross examination, logic, common sense, interaction with guys(like us), intuition?, and of course your own experiences, one may sooner or later feel more confident to make a choice. Maybe even end up quite happy with himself. How do you go through these processes with nothing to feed off? All this can simply be fun even if the outcome is not always great. Isn`t it part of the adventure? Learning? Like life? I used to love reading all this controversial stuff even if it cann be frustrating. Still do sometimes. Who`s been there I wonder? There are many grey area circumstances where advise from us `could` help in some way or might just be interesting. The wheel keeps spinning.... What if someone googles one of these other previous cables, which others or myself happen to mention here, and finds this thread? Now all of a sudden some interest could/should spark. Listing previous cables here can help others get closer to the greatness of HF. I KNOW how good HF is, as a past user, and I havn`t even heard their top of the line yet like you other guys. I feel very good about myself knowing I may have helped steer someone to the likes of HF.... Similar situation with Teo.
Quote from my old Teo HF thread here on Audiogon by member Essoteric - "I'd like to add that the Teo has gotten even better. I've spent more time listening to music these last 4 weeks then ever before. I'm like a heroin addict, I just can't get enough. It's the best invesment I've made in my audio gear and I've spent thousands of dollars. It's not that my system didn't sound good before, it did. It's just that I would play music and sit back and read a book. Now reading is out of the question because the music completely draws you in, this cable is soooo good. That was the missing link. I'll be forever indebted to you Petieboy for your excellent review that led me to this cable." Ok so I only helped one guy make a tough decision to spend X-amount of dollars blindly on a frigging cable. But I felt so good about it after reading that post with Essoteric thanking me. Less info or less compliance.... Essoteric, and maybe others, might not be experiencing such audio bliss today. If you can only reach one person.....
Yea yea I know....that isn`t relevant either right.
Anyway, for what ever reason, simply seeing other previous cables does in fact sometimes help! Isn`t it plainly clear and undeniable once you actually think about it and maybe stop thinking about yourself? Hey there`s a thought. People have been elaborating all sorts of experiences with current/past cables for years all over the net. Why should it stop here because some of us on high horse decide it is simply not relevant any more. Hey, maybe it`s relevant to others for some reason! Ever consider this? Should those reasons be assumed, ridiculed, ignored or even beat down! Can`t we just happily comply and try to help others and maybe have some fun in the process .....god forbid. |
I actually found that SC effects seem to `change` more than IC cables through various systems. I have read some logical technical info focusing on various SC design/amp/speaker interaction etc regarding this too. For me, the same IC`s seem to give me quite similar results through different systems(similar inherent flavor, neutral+or- etc) of course just on different levels and maybe slight changes here and there. Cables such as Teo and HF... well yea... much higher level here(more real instruments, voices, venues etc.) Regarding ones own system - to a trained ear accompanied by various personal familiarities.... once again yes I do think we can assess `some` relevance with past cables which may indeed help others.
Some IC`s I have used. More or less in order. Audioquest Anaconda with Eichmann silver(had fun with this one in my youth lol) Yamamura 6000 Audioquest Sky Stereovox600 Harmonix CI Wolff S/G/C Ridge Street P sig Cardas Golden everything Huffmann Audience SE DCCA Nordost Val/TYR Jungson Golden Dragon Zcable Live V5 Clarity cable Organic Siltech G7 Gabriel Gold Reflection Acoustic Zen Absolute MIT Oracle SR Element ASI liveline Fusion romance I/II Lenehan Ribbontek Shunyata Aurora Acoustic Revive SE Kubala Elation NBS Omega Audio note Sogon Ocellia Sig(thanks for the lend J) Stealth Indra(ditto) Shunyata Ztron (I have interest in MG audio new silver SC atm) There`s a few brands of IC`s I thought off the top of my head. Most of the above listed I would say were much of a muchness for me, simply different flavors and sides of neutrality. A few consistently stood out a bit more in one way or another. Best bang for buck IC I have had IMO would likely be Gabriel gold Reflection line and Lenehan(both around 300 or so used). Regardless of $ and without getting into specifics, unless of course someone asks, I can honestly and easily say that compared to all other cables I tried Teo and HF have had the biggest positive effect for me in every way and, for now, I will be sticking with them! |
Ummm apologies for the waterfall rant above guys! Probably allot of what I said was unnecessary and maybe a bit too blunt or rude,Tbg, but I mean well and speak from the heart. Was just feeling a bit annoyed. I simply don`t agree with withholding this kind off innocent stuff or attempts(no matter how small) to shut people`s free thinking . Previous cable talk is freely discussed everywhere else and it`s about helping others too if possible right. Didn`t mean to seemingly hijack the thread! Let this not interfere with all the ongoing HF discussions. All you guys here are obviously experienced and happy HF users which is great! Maybe some of us just try to open up a bit more maybe? To me these forums should be not only focused on general discussions to related main topic but also helping others as much as possible and complying to any questions without trying to enforce any kind of control of any sort. A few guys were obviously getting a bit peeved and frustrated. Understandably so. Including myself obviously. Even though it`s all not really a big deal. But still. I do like reading here occasionally to see all the positive HF comments as I like HF too. Was just getting a bit... you know.....
We could start a new link `past cable` thread for some of us daring or maybe silly enough to wander into the `irrelevant` dark side? lol Peace. |
Jwm In all honesty, G7, I had least of all time with probably from all of the cables mentioned. Considering all, I am very prepared to say would not compare to what I have now in any way!
I sometimes keep cables for longer than I should and also re-visit past cables again with new systems. Thanks to willing guys here in Australia and even some over-seas on occasions. We sometimes swap cables for a few weeks or so to try help each other out trying to assess a bit better and give some past cables another chance. So far I have experienced no new revelation of any sort. Nothing to rave about anyway. All things considered.
Anyway, G7 was not one of those I re-visited. FWIW I will say I thought it compared with the GG reflection I had at the time but GG was better value(got it very cheap) and I did prefer GG slightly at the time. In all fairness most of these cables I listed were much of a muchness to me. Some of them standing out in one way one or another but never did I feel there was any sort of completeness compared to what I heard with Teo or HF, all things considered. HF might seem a bit thin to some at first but no doubt it is simply accurate! Which is what it is all about to me. Considering all familiarization's and the process I try to use, as explained in other post,I am confident to say G7 is not as fast open as HF IMO rendering it somewhat congested closed less involving in comparison. Wouldn`t be as clean either. I remember thinking that I had no real desire to re-visit Siltech again even though at the time my system sounded quite musical with it installed. I thought it was over-priced in relation to perceived performance. I have not heard Siltech`s latest or top offerings but have read some positive comments from users expressing good results. In all reality I have my doubts. HF and Teo(apparently way better than other liquid brand) really do have unique designs which I believe simply surpass the usual various cocktail metal conductor/shielding designs. Although still good in ways I see/hear more clearly now how all other deigns I`ve tried are more on the `much of a muchness` scale. Teo and HF are a big leap beyond them IMO. Hard to explain but yea. We truly don`t know how good something sounds until we hear something clearly better. In a budget orientated system I would personally choose something like GG Ref(can get for around $300 used now)or ASI(another good buy used IMO) higher on my list than G7. Depending on exact system though - there I said it. Haha Sorry I can`t add much more than this regarding G7. |
I agree with the vocabulary points. I use all of those same audiophile terminology's to describe PeterST`s NOS1 USB Dac with XXhighend software and XXcomputer all the way from the Netherlands. http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=1744.0
No more turntable for me. No more tubes... thank god! FINALLY digital prevails! And how. This front end gear is the EPITOME of accuracy! And 100% neutral. I, and many others, hasn`t really hit USA yet, refer to Peter`s Dac as incredibly real AND musical. This gear warrants direct connection to amps and is exactly what Peter recommends. Connect tubes or any preamp etc and down she goes. Even if it seems subtle at first. I want to hear everything in the recording. Every shade every whisper every subtly. I want to hear the cymbal delicately fade in the background after a startling strike as the other instruments are still at full pace. Now I truly know what distortion and coloration is! It`s almost as if, to me ,and let that be clear, HF somehow accounts for most of our usual front end short comings. Which is great if that were so. Enter the arena Mr NOS1. It`s almost as if HF has nothing left to help now? Still great of course, in all HF glory.
Teo now takes the stand. Viola! Still accurate, even more so, musical as ever AND this added magic! What`s the magic? How would I know. It certainly isn`t anything typically tubey. I sometimes refer to it as alien technology tube sound..... that FINALLY works! In the end I just call it real. Simply sounds like real instruments real voices in real venues with truly shocking dynamics. NOS1 could explain, maybe, some of my past comments regarding these cables. In all due respect too. Sorry if this didn`t really make sense. NOS1 users would accept it. And they are growing every day. |
Iblieve, there is definitely a range. I think it goes something like this - PDL Standard(STD) Upgraded STD STD MkII Upgraded MkII ParaHelios(Reference) Upgraded Reference
Online reviews are of the older two lesser models. I am told, in good faith, the current Ref line is very special and quite astonishing. From my experience so far I have zero reason to doubt it. Going to find out for sure soon. MkII over MkI was quite the ear opener and a wonderful personal experience! As far as technical info - Teo use different diameter and number of liquid conductor. Probably different ratio mixtures but I am not sure on this one. Different plugs, different assembly protocols and fine tuning some of which, as I understand, are very complex. Teo do not disclose much of their shop knowledge for obvious reasons. Of course many would love to know..... and some have tried apparently |
Chris, i personally just use Shunyata Dark field 2. They seem to work as well as a couple other more expensive risers i have tried in the past. Not exactly the prettiest but can sometimes find a pack of 12 at a real cheap bargain. |
Hey guys. Audiolabyrinth, you thought i forgot didn`t you haha. Sorry for the late reply but things have been progressing slowly. The exact model opened baffle high pressure horn speakers(now @ 118db sensitivity) i mentioned to you before were only recently revealed - Orelo MkII. I highly recommend anyone reading this, if they care about sound/speakers and saving money, to check this link below or contact PeterSt @ Phasure or Bert @ BD-designs.
http://www.phasure.com/index.php?board=24.0
There is also plenty of info online regarding the early "Orelo" and more recent "Orelino" design.

Anyone here ever compare the Elrod diamond line to the High Fidelity UR power cords? I have been considering retiring my Elrod Gold for maybe a Diamond MB X2 or UR. Anyone? |
Also, for those who own them both, if you had to choose between the UR PC`s paired with existing quality conditioner. Or a wave guide conditioner with existing quality PC`s? Sorry maybe a bit of a hard question. Basically which would be advised to get first.... if too hard to discern in any other way. |
" I will be adding a dac soon. I'm just doing research on them now."
Calvin, i was going to send private msg but hopefully this benefits others. Look i don`t want to harp on but seriously i`m only doing you or anyone reading this a huge favor. PHASURE NOS1a 768kHz filterless USB DAC from the Netherlands!! I already mentioned the `a` upgrade in my earlier post which is one of the most significant upgrades in the history of digital. Just ask long time Audiogoner Gary Anderson(Glory) or anyone else who owns one. Funny how this is the only DAC never ever seen on the used market? It`s also funny because it always takes so long to try convince people a properly designed SS DAC can wipe away any tubed source. Took me a whole year to convince Gary. Ask him. Now ask him how much NOS1 destroys his prior high end Lampi DAC. Gary says NOS1 made Lampi sound broken. Try search the whole net for anyone proclaiming that properly set up NOS1/XXhighend is beaten by any other source. Good luck. Don`t be put off by NOS1 wining blue moon award by a country mile "lonely at the top" or all the almost too good to be true talk on the net. It is true. Simple as that. Whether it`s Meitner, Lampizator, PBD, Concert Fid, EMM labs, Esoteric or some other USB DAC etc etc. I bet nothing shoots out a cleaner signal than NOS1. Nothing else out there has the same specs design or concept. Read the Phasure site and all the endless posts. Soon common sense and logic prevails with out even hearing the thing.... then you hear it..... revolutionary! CD is so dead. SACD was a improvement but dying. NOS1 isn`t another typical sideways move. NOS1 is a clear jump forward well into the rosy future of digital front end audio leaving everything else in dust. Cleanest clearest smoothest most natural dynamic signal out there with zero grain or edge or any nasties. Totally clean and neutral. Yea you heard all that before right just like me. Nup. Not like this. NOS1 is TRUE clean! IDC who mods what or customizes this or that. Fact is no one designs or understands audio like PeterSt! You can add or change all the electronic parts you want. If the winning foundation design is not there...... This DAC is the heart and soul of any system. Get the playback source right and everything else makes so much more sense. Then there`s such a clearer picture. Yea most of us think we got a great source. So did i. But this source is better than your source! Simple. Just take a chance on this baby(60 day money back G)and thank me later. Nothing else like it. No not no other DAC like it... no other SOURCE like it. Especially considering the price. There is no one like PeterSt either. The guy is one hellova sic puppy! One of the nicest most helpful punctual guys in the world too. 4.5US - best buy in audio ever! You wont find one used. To some of you guys pretending to ignore this post... did you see the 4.5K part?? I seen some guys still buying >10K CD players FFS. Which NOS1 has already way proven to easily destroy SOOTB. This DAC is just way more significant than any 10 or 20K cable upgrade. It`s not even funny. I dare anyone to spend some hours reading the Phasure site and not be hugely impressed or at least hugely curious.

Ozzy, i know to some extent what these cables can do. Give it time to settle mate CT-1 should open up some. Yea maybe a cook will help. Do you have direction correct?
I believe CT-1 and `E` are fairly good no doubt even though i did sell mine. I shall be trying UR+r pc`s soon and also UR interconnect against my reference cables. I will chime in with my thoughts in the near future. Regarding some of the other posts - Yea IMO a couple of these guys on this thread do seem to go a bit over the top haha. But hey i`ve personally been accused of the same thing regarding PeterSt`s amazing Phasure and XXhighend gear. It`s all good fun right. Anyway let`s just remember, at the end of the day, all a really good cable is suppose to do is sound more like nothing. Allowing the signal to pass as unhindered as possible. So in effect bringing out the best, or the truth, of our equipment. The equipment is still the most important thing considering we have cables allowing the truth. The best cable is always no cable. So in reality when we get all excited and amazed at what cables such as HF brings, more nothingness or less distortion noise color, we are actually technically getting more excited hearing what our equipment/system can really do(Unfortunately to hear this kind of `effect` in it`s higher form it seems we have to go all the way to the top of the HF, or similar cable, line which means $$$$)
But of course we all know this. We just sometimes tent to over emphasis the cables effect, or non-effect, since these type of cables are only becoming available more recently. Having said this - I also have heard my modest relatively cheapo 2nd system sounding rather spectacular with very high end cables but still no comparison when they are connected to my reference system. And in certain circumstances i guess if we don`t really get very excited about what cables such as HF bring then in actual fact we are probably simply realizing more of the truth of our equipment.
Personally i`ve been concentrating on simplifying my reference system(apart from tweaks) as much as possible partially to avoid paying excess $$$$ for more cables that do `more of nothing` and of course to obtain the purest sound as live. Genius designer, PeterSt, has recently come up with a groundbreaking upgrade with his DAC making it immune from the source - rendering quality pc`s and usb cable on source basically obsolete. And his complimenting speakers do not require usual speaker cables. Amps/X-overs are built-in hard wired on the same board(inside phase plug) and designed specifically for the speakers and DAC. No mismatches, or taking chances, only one of the cleanest possible synergy/purest signal flow with no degradation all the way from source to open baffle drivers at 118db sensitivity. Cables such as HF are just another compliment. Not only do i feel supremely confident i have some of the best equipment out there but now the only cables i have to worry about is 1x IC and a few pc`s. Which of course should sound like nothing as much as possible(e.g. High Fidelity). It is rather nice to save all that $$$$ having so few expensive cables in system. I believe the approach of minimalist, but wisely chosen best quality equipment as possible, and as few cables as possible(quality cables), is the way of the future for 2-channel audio. Let`s just hope that such cables can one day be afforded by all. |
Calvinj, exactly! Hence my prior post regarding components matter. And this is exactly why i love what 1x Teo cable did/does to my system. But of course i got attacked by a couple of the HF police when i stated my opinion regardless of my system or needs. Why do you think i don`t bother contributing much to this thread? For what it`s worth i now own Teo`s very best silver ref IC. Even more expensive than HF top line UR cable unfortunately. I`m so grateful and lucky that i manage to find great prices with all these high end cables! Considering my system - Teo is the only real chance of adding a touch of quality/natural color e.g. touch of timbral warmth weight etc of the highest order(unlike horrible little glass bottles full of noise) without sacrificing finest detail and extension or sound of venue etc. High end Teo is like HF and some unheard super tube? love child. Is very expensive though unless you go for cheaper Teo but honestly that would only be advised under certain system/taste circumstances as Calvin is talking about. But anyway i really do like HF cables so far. Allot. Very much looking forward trying the UR+r power cords and of course UR IC. I already have a strong suspicion the power cords are going to be something special. Of course comments on this thread has helped my confidence..... sort of |
So Ddraudt, basically you are saying i/we should not hesitate to get these URR P-cords right?
Chris, yea that is similar to what Gary said to me a few times at the beginning before he took the plunge. You really should ask him his experience. 1:The NOS1/XXhighend system is basically plug and play and way easier than using CD and infinitely more convenient and most importantly so much better sound. In less than a few hours use i can promise you will never look back in any way 2:6moons review had unique problems with their system and kind of made things come across to the newbee reader as more complicated than it really is. Also remember XXhighend software no longer requires any of the adjustments or configuration since that review. NOS1a is now totally immune to any noise or interference from computer source. It is more plug and play then ever before and we can now save $$ on cables as well as having better sound. 3:NOS1 now sounds allot better since that 6moons review and scarily can only keep getting better as windows improves and meanwhile Peter keeps improving his amazing software and even recently coming up with the world first `a` upgrade. This source is world first and world class in more than 1 way 4:Peter is there for us supporting all NOS1 users almost instantly if ever need be. Support is A++++++ 5:You can always get your money back, but no one has returned yet 6:Ha you can`t be too worried about hearing if you play with these $$ high end cables...
I wont say any more. But i really encourage to keep a open mind on this option and maybe read more of Peter`s site or at least have a quick chat to Gary. Most of us know him here on Audiogon... he is well respected. Gary has been around allot longer than i.
Anyway, yea, this is a HF thread. I shall chime in again when i try the UR/URR range soon. |
Dave(Ddraudt) for what it`s worth i do take your posts somewhat seriously, even if they do seem a bit hyped, and i have respect for your approach. Your enthusiasm is uplifting mate. Especially everything AC related. After all AC IS the true source. I too like tweaking as i mentioned before. Maybe not quite to the extent as yourself. But who does? "A truth in Audio, what one has not heard, one does not know" Totally agreed! For those skeptical on some of Daves posts... he has been around for a while and has allot of experience with the "darker side" or maybe more controversial side of audio. I still remember the interesting Soundstage article from some years back involving Dave. Cool stuff.
Dave i wish you could hear the Phasure gear in your system!
Anyhow... HF URR is on the way! |
Charles, you have Ocellia as well still? How do you compare to HF `E`,`U` ? Looking for input regarding >270Hz! Still interested in `E` speaker cables to try. |
Audiolabyrinth, >"very long thou" Well, you better not try to read what I`m sending you regarding the speakers you requested info on haha *smiley with tongue* Yea I have had a few guys personally inquiring about them recently. Would be my pleasure to offer more info. Probably best to start a new thread on it though. Seriously, trust me, it`s worth it. Everyone should know about them! I shall do it soon. |
Hi Ddraudt, Nice description there. WGPC seems interesting... as with all Rick`s stuff. Will try to organize WGPC audition one day through my HF dealer with and without CT cabling against my own set-up. Someone I know and trust in audio had a Troy. He messed around for quite a while trying to justify the mind boggling price tag. Long story short in the end he settled very happily on a much cheaper AR RTP6U. Which to him had pretty much the same effect. Eventually, after major upgrades to the 230V supply, I sold my powercellV2 and followed suit. Now this unassuming little passive sits aloft a Star sound Technology platform with great results. But once again my mind is open so.....
Yep patience is a virtue. And maybe cookers ain`t cookers? Here are a few interesting comments regarding cookers mentioned - http://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/vt.mpl?f=tweaks&m=164572&VT=T Latest upgraded updated version is better again. They can also be used in various ways maybe better suited to specific cables.
FWIW I thnk we can play with high end cables all we want and obviously they are important and relevant..... But apart from the all important AC... if the entire playback source on it`s own is not truly as accurate as it could be... even if we think it is...... then........... |
Thanks Calloway. BTW being in Australia it seems my posts indeed take longer to show up which can interfere with my posting regarding others posts. No matter. Ddraudt`s(appears to be as crazy as myself with system detail haha)last post, which i was unaware of at the time, has kind of already answered my previous post.
So you guys think it might be wiser to just start off with the UR wave guide and use that with Elrod Gold until i can afford the UR+r power cord? Basically i would only be in a position to get one or the other FTTB.
So FTTB it would either be - Elrod gold > UR wave guide. UR+r > Acoustic Revive ultimate passive. Then upgrade the other at a later date.
So guys, any more thoughts as to which might be the most effective first step or which you would choose yourself? Cheers. |
