High Fidelity Cables CT-1designed by Rick Schultz

In December 2011,I wrote that High Fidelity cables led by cable designer Rick Schultz was putting together a new cable. The cable came to market as CT-1.The CT-1 has FINALLY made it into my system!I had obtained a version of the prototype that Rick had been working on.It blew my previous reference Genesis by Virtual Dynamics.I thought I had finally found my end with this cable. This prototype delivered to my ears "Nirvana".Could I be at the end of my quest for the ultimate sound?
No. I received two pairs of CT-1 to replace my prototypes. They went into the system this past Friday.Unable to dedicate time until Sunday listening,I stole a few moments, ducking away from company with anticipation. My guest could tell even with the music set for"ambiance"something was intriguing and I was in for a treat!
The experience:
First off,CT-1 was very user friendly.Installation was simple;the cable is very nice and light. The female RCA fit beautifully unlike any I had found in other cable. It was secure and reliable. It seemed much thought was dedicated to developing a designer fit to an aesthetically stunning RCA connector.Install entailed a few wiggles to ensure what seemed like a compression fit on my RCA.
It was 2-3 hrs. for the 1st step of break in to be complete. At that point I had something different!Today, although they only have 10-12 hrs. on them,I can`t put into words how much my system has transformed.Believe me,I loved my prototypes.However....there is simply no comparision.
The clarity and sound is so natural.
The soundstage is like nothing I ever heard.Resoulution is breathtaking and inner detail is simply hard to believe possible.
The sound has transended and now it simply does not seem as thought I have speakers.
My system is musicians playing music.
I am told with time they will improve and I trust that as it was revealed with the prototypes.I wanted to share my thoughts with you that now.
Unequivocally,a testament to High Fidelity,as the name declares.
High Fidelity Cables for me,the last word on it,after 12 hours!
Truly Amazing

I just hang my cables on the wall, with audio approved hangers of course. They take up less room than traditional components, but can be bright in the wrong room.

Btw, I have one CT1 interconnect and am trying to figure out which child to sell to upgrade, or buy speaker cables.
Ddraudt, These threads have a life of their own. You should not get your panties in a wad over people having fun with each other. Sometimes, on the best threads, one group will spillover to another for a while.

Jmcgrogan2 said he was borrowing some CT1 cables to try, and Calvinj, gave a nice comparison between the CT1 and some Tara's.

And no, I do not have a hall pass.
Mcondon, Probably just different systems. I thought the Blackcat was terrible in my system. Sounded very digital sounding. Highs hurt my head, but you enjoy it , and thats all that matters.
I added a CTI-1 Ultimate power cord to my Sound Application power conditioner. It took about 1- 2 hrs to hear a large difference. Sounds much more like music. I will not be upgrading due to cost, but perhaps may buy another Ultimate later just to see how much better it gets. It would be pretty cool if the effect magnifies as much as Calloway and others say.
If you leave them on the phono it may take years not months. Get them on a tuner or DVD/cd player ( 2 volts ) and run it 24/7. I know you don't want to move the cable, but you are correct, it would be torture.
Siddh, your question was not adressed to me ,but others have made the same complaint. I think the High Fidelity cables are neutral, and clean up the soundstage in a natural way, but other may see this as less body, and less mid bass. I think it is part of our different systems and what we are looking for in our systems. No matter what anyone tells you, no one cable is going to work in all systems.

I'd say, listen a little longer, say 30-50 more hours, and move on, if you still are unhappy. It sounds like you might already have found a interconnect you like.
Siddh, if you look at Jack Robert's review on Daago of the Ultimates he answers your question directly, and his observations seem right in line with what you are saying. Good luck!
Sammons, I understand why you would want to stay all magnetic with the High Fidelity, but if you need a cable to muddle through with, I would recommend the Elrod Statement Gold to the conditioner before switching to High Fidelity. Nice.
When I pull the banana connectors at the amp I see 13.1 ohms, through the wire and the speaker.
Al, 3.8 ohms on each 2' run of CT1 speaker wire here.

The CT1e would have a Wave guide magnet added. They would be trying for magnetic effect vs. resistance, but has always wondered about the effects of higher resistance.

Btw, I love mine and have no loss of volume.
When I pulled the banana connectors and read through the speaker, I see 13.1 ohms.

The speaker is a Joseph Audio RM25xl. The amp is a Butler 2250.(250w)
I bought a pair so, I will answer my own questions. Should be able to pick up from Rick tomorrow.
Gfroman, it's impossible to tell which way would work best for you, but I would agree with the others on the power cord. You can move it around in your system.

I started, with the ultimate, on the power conditioner, and the effect, though muted was noticeable throughout the system. It was in your face noticeable when put on the transport and Dac. I have settled, for now, on the amp, because I have multiple sources. I do not know where yours would end up sounding it's best.

Jazz, although I will never know what " to much" is with the High Fidelity cables, I did wonder when the ultimate power cord was on my dac if the stronger magnetic cords might be to much on some systems. I guess you will soon be able to say, at least on your system. Good luck!
Anybody try the rca and digital connectors yet? I am considering the RCA connectors for phono cable ,because I have to use a light cable with my tonearm and normal High Fidelity cables are not possible.

Another question was can these be used to "enhance " the current interconnects?
The only non- HFC cables I use are the light Trans Fi Terminator phono wire and Stealth digital cables. I needed a magnet for the input to the phono stage, but Rick will not have any input adapters until Friday, so I will not be able to help with what I hear till then.

I am however, listening to an HFC Electrical adaptor which plugs into any wall receptacle. I did not have time to discuss any theories with Rick, as I was late for an appointment that day, but he offered to let me listen to it and let him know what I thought.

In the middle of listening my Allnic amp went out, but the power adapter seemed to add more clarity.

I am now recalibrating to the sound of my Butler amp, but it is harder to tell differences. I do think the more magnets the better.

I am trying not to use the RCA output adapter , so I can exchange for an RCA input , but I'm not sure I can pass up the temptation to install on another ct1e. 😊
A genius idea?

The only better business plan is the one where they give you the first taste and you have to pay once your hooked.😃
Yoby, It may have been a prototype, but it definitely was not for sale yet. I returned it to Rick, when I had an amplifier problem, since I could not be of help.

Theory is that magnet draws the electricity, but it does not pass through the adapter like all the other HFC devices. It just plugs into any open plug. Perhaps someone else has the adapter and can comment.

I went to purchase more RCA adapters, but I guess they are sold out. Anybody know if more are coming?
Thanks Calvin, and look forward to your thoughts after break in.

The RCA adapters, in my system, adds more of the HFC sound ( or lack of noise) to the system. Not like a step up in level of cables like ct1 to ct1e, but is noticeable.

To people who have been here, If you had to choose between adding another Ultra powercord, in place of a Silent Source MR, or replacing Ct1 speaker cables with Ct1e speaker cables, which way would you go? The powercord are amazing but worried the Ct1 speakers cables may be a bottleneck.

Lak, I currently use it on an Allnic A1500, with EML xls. I do switch back and forth with a Silent Source Sig. on Yamamoto Dac. Slightly bolder presentation with Sig on amp; smoother with MR on amp. The more I think about it I am leaning toward keeping the SS Music Ref.

Rest of equipment is

Shindo Aurieges

Volti Alura speakers (early rendition)

PS Audio PWT

Forgot to add, Ct1 Ultimate to Sound Application Conditioner, with all enhanced interconnects.
Thanks Lak and Rlawry I think the power cable situation may be solved. I will know next week.

John, Did your freezer work better with the MC-0.5? Did it sound better?

I am sure Rick is always looking for another market.
