Shottky's are generally considered to be quieter than Hexfreds (note spelling) but I did not find so much difference between them as the (obvious) upgrade from the stock rectifier bridge was.
My experiments were with tube gear, specifically the Atma-Sphere M-60 and Tube Research GT 400. In my opinion, either is a huge step up from stock. Available from Michael Percy at his web site:
