Help with a B&0 3404 turntable

I just got a B&O 3404 that had been sitting in someone's closet for year.  I want to remove the platter to replace the belt but the B&O's have that spring loaded spindle mechanism in the middle.  Does the platter just lift off around that or is there so type of spring or other mechanism I have to disengage first?
