I know you already bought a cable, but Van den Hul makes a great cable with male mini optical on one end (airport) and toslink on the other (DAC), thus obviating the need for an adapter. Hope this helps.

Help Female Toslink to Male minijack
Hey Folks. Has anybody found a good quality Female Toslink to Male minijack adapter? I purchased q good , glass Toslink cable to run from my Airport Express to my DAC, but need an adapter for the AE. Found a couple online from $.99 to a few dollars, wonder if anybody found a well made solution anywhere.
