Help choosing receiver

Hi,

I have a small budget of 450 to buy a used receiver and I would greatly appreciate your suggestions. I would only use it for HT as I have a separate 2 channel system.

I've been looking at Denon, Yamaha, Marantz and Sony (the brand new STR-DA1000ES)

Thanks !!

Another vote for the Panasonic SA-XR45 (or 25). I have one hooked up to very modest inwall speakers, but I first tried it out with some Dynaudio speakers, and the sonics were excellent. Plenty of power, and packed with features. I don't know how they do it.
I've been further narrowing my search to the Denon 3803, any comments ?
I plan to use it also as a PreAmp, because I already have a power amp.

Thanks,
I think I-m going to go Denon, maybe a I can find a good deal on the 2803 or 3803.

The issue with the Panasonic SA-XR45 is that it doesn't have pre outs and other stuff...

Please keep sending your opinions....I don't want to screw up.

Thanks,
Take a serious look at the Panasonic SA-XR45. It's a 6.1 HT receiver that is rated at 100wpc (all digital). Huge amount of posts over at Audioasylum re: this little slim profile receiver. I plan on looking into it by the spring. And best of all, it's only $300 brand new!
Been looking closely at Denon 2803 and 3802....also the Onkyo 701, would these three rival same budget Pioneer Elite or Yamaha ?
I think I should forget about the Sony.

Thanks,
Used NAD T751 is my favorite, mostly because its EARS 2ch-to-5.1 algorithm is a winner. Around $400, $500 discounted new, if you can find a leftover.
I like onkyo 800 or above - won the receiver of the year at a hifi magazine for under 1k. Smooth and rich.

Outlaw 1050 is also nice - I see here for sale now and then.

I also like this new digital amp - panasonic sa-xr45 ($300 shipped on the web) Although not that powerful, has a pleasant smooth sound, with a great bass. Some are replaceing a few thousand units with this. A lot is written about it on here and www.audioasylum.com
