Has anyone compared Kimber Hero and AQ Diamondback

I read a few reviews of the diamondback where people say they are 2 dimensional sounding. I was wondering if it is just the limitations of their components and not the cables. I'm trying to buy an XLR cable to connect a Mcintosh MC402 to a C2200.
