I have the Serac, the Artisan Arm setup with a Dynavector 20XL cartridge. This is a big step up from my previous Technics turntable fitted with the Denon 103R cartridge. I would characterize the sound as romantic and mello. My only other direct comparison (made using the same system) is with a friend's VPI Scout fitted with the JMW-9 signature arm and Shelter 501II cartridge with speed controller made shortly after receipt of the turntable. That setup was more dynamic, detailed with a more upfront presentation in comparison. Two very different presentations but again that comparision was made without phono cable or cartridge break-in.
