@botrytis, that's good to hear. Do you mean more optimized than the other inputs on the R26?
Gustard R26
Is anyone else looking forward to the reviews coming out on the Gustard R26 r2rDac? I am interested to see if it can compete with the Holo Spring at a lower price point. How will it stand up to the other r2r dac’s out there right now. It does present well and is feature rich right out of the box. Is it a true proprietary resistor board or is it off the shelf and tweaked? I know the other Gustard equipment is well received and liked so my hopes are high for this as well.

@rischa yes - the SPDIF connections, for me sound lifeless - I have not tried the ethernet connection so I cannot comment. |
I got this in like-new condition from an authorized dealer for under a grand, and I have to say, coming from my Geshelli Labs Dayzee, wow. To me, it’s more holographic, with a wider soundstage. I understand that comparing it to a chip DAC might not be ideal, but it’s the only frame of reference I have. :) Regarding the discussions about it being a streamer, I think some of those points have been taken out of context. It functions more as a Roon endpoint, which is exactly what it was designed for. If you’re using Roon (as I am), this is definitely something you’ll want to consider. I must add that it sounds excellent across the board, with deep, well-defined bass and impressive upper extension, especially with my DIY speakers. |
