Gryphon-Tannoy

Hi,

how do You see a pair of Tannoy Canterbury 15 with
Gryphon amplification? Any direct experience?
The room is roughly 16 x 16 sqft and I listen to
mainly rock and classical.

many thanks,

From what I've read (never heard) Gryphon's reputation is for being accurate, transparent, cool, fast, detailed, possibly analytical.

a good friend of mine owns the Antillean Signature stereo amp which I have heard many times (with diff speakers than the one you are interested in). I will say that Gryphon amps are NOT
* cool
* possibly analytical

Gryphon amps are NOT neutral (which amp is??) & IMHO the best adjective to describe Gryphon sound would be a "touch dark". The music has warmth & musicality to it. I would say that Gryphon amp would be a music lover's amp.
From my limited experience w/ Tannoy I would say that the Canterbury 15 would need an amp with balls to make it come alive despite its high efficiency. IOW, let the high efficiency not fool you into thinking that a low-powered amp will suffice. A low powered amp will generate music but you will not be getting the best from the speaker. So, yes, IMHO the pairing could be a very musical one with the amp exercising very good bass control. YMMV.
Bombay,

Yes sir , the Canterbury´s sound better with medium to high power amps. SET's with less than 24 watts are not enough.
