“Ghetto,” Vibb Eaters

So I read multiple posts elsewhere that Vibb Eaters aren’t just a thing, but actually a highly effective thing (even at their price). I admit, they’re really cute, but I had a hard time swallowing the price tag for a pair. I decided to try and find something that might create a similar effect on a lesser budget. I run KEF LS50 Metas and for speakers under 35lb, they recommend their 2kg size Vibb Eaters, so what I decided to try instead is these 5lb soft weights from CAP found on Amazon:

They came in today and I placed them on top of my Metas…I was absolutely shocked to discover that my little bookshelf speakers suddenly sound noticeably more full-bodied. It’s as if somebody took these drivers and moved them into twice as large enclosures. The amount of added, “oomph,” per $ for ten bucks a speaker is shocking. If you haven’t tried it yet, just try placing something inert and reasonably weighted on top of your cabinets and see. Unreal improvement! Now I see what the hype is for the Vibb Eaters!
