Gene Scheer - American Anthem

Anyone follow the works of Gene Scheer?  I came across this article in the NYT and started putting the pieces together.  I recalled the end of Biden's speech and this song that I couldn't quite place.  Then looked for the performance a few months ago at RBG's service.  Now I'm looking for more suggestions on how to enjoy Mr. Scheer's work.  Please offer any thoughts you have.
