FYI: Let visitors use your Wi-Fi for additional security

I setup my guest network as an experiment to see what was involved. My LUXUL router guest network setup was very, VERY difficult. I emailed them and suggested their newer LUXUL 6E DAC version needs to make the process easier.

In addition, an LUXUL App to control it would be appreciated and very beneficial.

I also trust my guests but wanted to learn how to setup a guest network on my LUXUL router 3150. I learned it was very difficult to do on my 5 year old router. Most of the newer routers provide a much easier process.

Yes, I am going to replace my router with a 6E version and will review LUXUL, ASUS and AmpliFi routers.

I setup my guest network as a learning experience.  My guests are trustworthy so that was not the concern or issue.   This was an experiment (THAT FAILED).

Several hours after I created the guest network, I was UNABLE to access my main network from my iPhone.  And, I was completely locked out of my router. YIKES.   Fortunately, I had a backup file (DO YOU HAVE A BACKUP?), so I did a router factory reset, reloaded the backup file and was back in operation (everything worked).  My assumption is the LUXUL support person forget some setting or changed something he was not supposed to.  Obviously, the setup has many different settings on many different screens.  This was very frustrating.  

My 5-year-old LUXUL XWR3150 router settings are very complicated, there is no documentation and, obviously, the LUXUL Customer Support people do not have all the answers.  Nothing is easy to deal with on my router.  AND, in addition, the LUXUL Easy Start App would NOT connect to my router (another issue.)

The newer routers are much more user-friendly.  YES, I have given up on creating a guest network. Is it time for a new router, maybe?

Thanks for all your advice. My LUXUL Access Point is not working. I spent 90 minutes with LUXUL Customer Support and they were unable to get my iPhone, etc. to connect to it. He had me Check many screens, reboot all devices and more. He finally gave up and asked me to send him the router log file. I give up with LUXUL.

I ordered the Orbi 960 Series Quad-Band WiFi 6E Mesh System, 10.8Gbps, 10 Gig Port, 2-Pack, and it will be here on Saturday. This is a 2-piece mess system.

After reviewing the system Log file, LUXUL Customer Support reports my LUXUL 1510 Access Point (Extender) is connecting and then losing its connection to the Internet. I asked but they do not know why this is happening and are investigating.

My best guess is something new to the environment is interfering with the Extender but I do not know what. I have not added any devices or sources to my Network. I rebooted everything and still no connection. 

I took the back cover off the access point and noticed the unit was very hot. I unplugged it from power and turn the power back on after one hour. Is it possible the unit is overheating?  After one hour, my iPhone is connecting perfectly to the access point.  Next test is to see what happens after several hours.

The over heating of the access point might explain it dropping signals from the Internet. The unit is 5 years old and maybe some parts are going bad. In any case. My new ORBI router arrives on Saturday. 

My new NETGEAR - Orbi 960 Series AXE11000 Quad-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6E Router System is installed and working perfectly. We placed the 2nd router (satellite) in our living room and have a full signal everywhere.

The Best Buy Technician installed it very quickly (it was easy) and answered all my questions. The signal strength is very strong in all our rooms.
