Flash Memory Music and DC Power Suplly?

Yes. Oh yes.
First, I invite you to read my article http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?ymisc&1333029308&openmine&zzFmnp&4&5#Fmnp about FLASH MEMORY MUSIC.
Second, I finished today the DC/DC Power Supply to my WD TV Live. And…
HEAVEN, just HEAVEN!
So, now, I’m in a position to say this with no doubts: This definitely sounds better (but so much) BETTER than any other digital solution, mainly CD player (any one you want), CD transport and PC Music (whatever this is).
I know that, it sounds strange how a little box like the WD (a media player) could sound better than other devices that costs thousands of dollars (or Euros, my currency). But if you doubt it, just do the experience. After all, it just about 100$. And there are different brands (Asus, Iomega, etc). All do the job.
But, again, read the above mentioned article and then, for those that want to know how to build the DC/DC PS, I’ll be glad to give the circuit diagram.

Hi Sandra,

Trust me: forget the USB connection.
Listen trough the USB PEN.
About the DC/DC PS I've started a new tread.

Hi FP, I'm interested in the power supply also. I bought the WD live and started playing the flash drive but was disappointed that I couldn't plug my dac into USB. Is there any streamer that I could hook my dac into USB and play it? Thanks, Sandra
Hi, Fmnp
Thank you for sharing your experiences and advising how to improve on things.

I have set up as per your advice (wd tv and DAC, using usb flash memory), and am pleased with the sonic results.

Could you further share how to construct the DC/DC ps for enhancement of the performance.

Thank you again.
Hi Aplhifi,

Has I believe you know the CD's are at 44.1!
That's what hear with my collections of CD's.
And yes, I know about the down-sampling. But the 24 bits are there if you want them at 44.1(176.4) or 48 (96).
But with 44.1 to compare, I suggest you the same. Listen my solution first and then tell me something. And with the DC/DC power supply...No words...
Do the test.
Ps. And yes, I already have heard all kinds of high-end CD's and sacd's(less).

While your enthusiasm is great, and I agree that the power supply is very important factor, you obviously haven't heard a well done high-res CD/SACD/DVD-A transport or PC Music (computer audio). :-)

Also, what we do with the fact that both WD and O!Play media players downsample to 44.1 and 48kHz?

Best wishes,
