flac, wave, mp4, iPod files????

I always convert flac files to mp4 so I can listen to them on my iPod. Is this necessary? My iTouch won't let me download flac. I would like to hear wave, flac as opposed to standard mp4. I want to hear the higher resolution.

I don't know about the newer iPods, but I rip WAV files and transfer them directly to my 60gb iPod Photo without a hiccup. I've also used Apple Lossless files as well, no problem. Again, don't know much about the iTouch. Why not just try it?
Jax2 are you telling me to put the wave, flac files in the photo section as opposed to the music section?

No. I'm telling you my iPod is an older version (I think it's a 4th Generation or perhaps 3rd) called iPod Photo. I put the WAV files in the music section and load them via iTunes.

I thought the consensus was any format is irrelevant[sp] on an Ipod as opposed to a better system which can utilize the higher rez.Wav,AIFF,Apple Lossless,etc....??

With earbuds/headphones you hear everything. I cannot imagine why the format would be irrelevant?
