Fiber is Coming to my neighborhood

I just talked to a At&t Technician in our neighborhood and he said they are bringing fiber very soon.  I hope this improves my internet I have cox cable out several times a year working on my internet from cox.  The internet seems to very on my computer when surfing the internet but streaming TV doesn't seem to be affected much.  I am building a system so I don't have my DAC or streamer.  I do have my amp and getting a preamp as we speak.  Would Fiber have any effect on the type of streamer or DAC I look at?  I do assume that fiber will be better than cable.  What should I look for to improve signal as far as jitter?

@llg98ljk When you talk about the gateway are you referring to the modem?  Did. you use the equipment from AT&T or did you purchase your own?

brbrock: Yes, I use their equipment, and the gateway is a modem. You have to use their gateway if you have fiber. I don't know of any way to get around that. Apparently, you can piggy-back your stuff onto it but that gets into areas that are way above my pay grade, I like to keep thigs simple and it all works to my satisfaction as is.

@llg98ljk I imagine just going getting fiber will be a huge upgrade when it gets here.  I constantly have sporadic issues with cable.

As a retired AT&T tech,  I can assure you it will be better than what you have now. Try to use a ethernet connection instead of wifi if possible,  so if you can have the tech that comes install the gateway close to your system,  it would facilitate a short run of ethernet cable.

It doesn't really matter what level of equipment you purchase,  it will benefit.

@allanblissett Yes thanks for the info.  I am excited about it.  I have the cable guy out at least 2 to three times a year.  I think I mentioned this in a previous post but I feel like they come out and just put a bandaid on the problem.
