@jdubs1 The FOS are from my experience, when used with a Turntable or Valve Equipment that is of a weight the FOS manages comfortably, are the best Sub Supports I have used out of all Suspension Devices tried. My AT 616 have been the Sub Supports / Footers that were sought to be used in place of other Suspension Footers, as a result of different Brands and Designs being compared. I was to become curious about FOS and bought a set, this was a excellent purchase, in relation to how a TT is supported and lighter weight Valve Equipment, the Tidying Up of the End Sound is quite special and surpasses the AT 616 quite discernably. Note: The FOS are not robust, the Cantilever design for the Suspension is not Robust, it is not difficult to shear a thread at the anchoring point of the Horizontal Round Bar to the Cylinders. Additionally, when the FOS are used as Sub Supports, there is not a easy way designed into the Footer, to make adjustments to level equipment. Adding shims is required if the FOS Sub Support is the only ones in use. Setting Up a TT, will ned shims off a differing thickness, down to 0.25mm are required if a Digital Level is being used, A bubble level might be more for giving. When a Devise is used with an off set weight it is easy to bottom out the Inner Cylinder and have the part resting and not suspended. Less Soft or additional 'O' Rings / Springs can prevent this bottom out occurring, but again all FOS will need treating if the Parts are to offer a uniform performance. Would I be without a FOS type design - No Would I be with a version of a FOS that is more Robust, Offers More Range for the Suspension, and incorporates a design that allows for Finesse Adjustment for Levelling - Yes. When scrutinised for what is required to produce a Variant, it is not difficult to see it is very very easy and very affordable to achieve. If one wants their own particular metal and all to have immaculate tooling, add some extra to a costing for the Service to produce the machining and Polishing. If a Thicker Walled Metal is selected and is to be a Polished Ferrous / Non Ferrous Metal as the aesthetic for the finish, add a little extra to the costing. If a Spring is preferred over the ’O’ Ring, these Parts can be Polished as well. After being loaned my FOS a friend who really thought they had resolved their Sub Support concerns, the outcome was they were forced back to have a rethink, as a result of the impression the FOS has made. As a result of my guidance and suggestions made to their inquiries, the design produced for a TT was approx’ 350mm x 350mm, with Hard Wood used for the Frames. The Outer Frame was enabled to be finesse adjusted using threaded footers attached to the frame base. If not using wood for the frame, the Thickness of the metal used, if increased allows for a deeper thread to be cut, improving the Robustness of the Anchor Point for the Horizontal Round Bar. On the Timber Frame Design, the Horizontal Round Bars were increased in their Diameter and were added as a Two Per side configuration, this works for a Metal Frame as well. Suspension Range was increased as well, and different Suspension aids selected, i.e, Springs or ’O’ Rings to enable ample suspension movement for different TT’s to be used, which are different weights due to Plinth Type and are using different weights and peripheral ancillaries. The Design was robust enough to take heavy Valve Amplification if the Suspension aids was selected to accommodate it. This is the design I am to produce for my own set up as it is very easy to produce and worked exceptionally well, the FOS could not be separated for their contribution when compared using lighter weight equipment. Not that I have heard the effects of another version of the design in use, but I know a Similar Design is being used under the Speakers of the individual as well. As a result of them having used my AT 616 under their Speakers and been left quite impressed by what is considered a betterment for the noticeable changes detected to the End Sound produced. Again I will one day produce a design similar for my own Speakers to be compared to AT 616. There are also other Footers to be trialled against in other systems, where their purpose is to create a similar effect to my AT 616. Which as a result of being loaned, were to be instrumental in encouraging other system owners to venture in to using Sub Supports such as Townsend Sleds, Podiums and Gaia. As I am familiar with these systems, I will also be encouraging owners to have a period of using devices inclusive of Speakers with the New Design for a Sub Support. |
