Favorite Newly Discovered Female Vocalist

Thanks to Qobuz I can endlessly explore new music and artists. I enjoy female vocalists and I’m always searching for new talent whether Pop, Jazz or Classical.

A few I have discovered and very much enjoy:

Laufey: From Iceland and writes very melodic somewhat old school songs

Eva Cassidy: Amazing voice. Best cover of Over The Rainbow I’ve ever heard. Spellbinding and emotional

Diana Panton: Very silky smooth voice. Enjoy anything she sings

Pamela D’Amico: Wonderful Brazilian singer/Guitarist

Kacey Musgraves: Grammy winning artist who spans pop and country. Her song The Architect is a gem  She’s been singing for a while but I just found her on a recommendation from my granddaughter

Michelle Simonal: Another wonderful singer from Brazil Love her rendition of the 80s song Some People as well as other covers

Sarah Menescal: Also from Brazil and offers wonderful covers. Especially love her cover of Over My Shoulder

Stacey Kent: What a delicate sweet voice. Especially enjoy her covers of So Nice and The Gentle Rain on the Brazilian Sketches Album

Hope you enjoy these artists as much as I do

Oh although not a singer but a Classical Pianist please check out

Yuja Wang: Phenomenal and well recorded by DG especially her newest

The Vienna Recital

Great thread.  I may have missed her name but possibly the most creative and innovative female singer/songwriter of the past fifty years is not on this list.

She is a truly acquired taste but well worth the listen:  Kate Bush is her name and most people consider her album "The Hounds of Love" to be her greatest work.

Also the music of Patty Larkin.  A truly wonderful singer/songwriter and fantastic guitarist. She has worked a lot with Bruce Cockburn

@ronkent - Totally agree about Kate; my favorite of her's is 'The Dreaming'. But one reason she may not have been mentioned is that she may not be a 'new discovery' to that many people.

@larsman  thanks.  I have to say The Dreaming is a very close second and in many ways is a more interesting album.  Have been a fan since about 1985 so she is not a "new discovery".  but i could not leave her out of this discussion.

It is amazing how many names on this list i do not recognize.  Also surprised not to see Loreena Mckennitt listed.  She does some really lovely music
