Favorite Female vocals that give you goose bumps

My current favorites are Eva Cassidy's "The water is wide" and "Autumn Leaves", Kiki Dee's "Take my breath away" and Ella Fitzgerald's "Angel eyes" and "Lush life".

Being jazz centric Ella for sure.Like the old joke goes you have her "sing the telephone book" and it would be great.Other jazz would beyond big names like Holiday,Vaughn,Dinah Washington,I would add Anita O'Day,Carmen McRae,Chris Connor, and of course Betty Cater. Also love Ernestine Anderson and the tragiuc Beverlley Kenney. Now I think Dee Dee Bridgewater is best.Newer singer Stacey Kent.

But Goosebumps?Ella say on LP "Like Someone In Love".Next to That Nina Simone singing "I Loves You Porgy".

What is deal with Norah Jones?I don't get her,Monheit or Mrs.Costello (or is that Mr.Krall?).Some like Pat Barber but again I just don't get it.

Beyond jazz Maria Callas.Janis.In folk Kraus. And of course Althea Franklin. They all produce goosebumps. But Ella, though she had faults (on blues where folks said she sounded "too damn cheery") could swing it and give a ballad which would make you arm look liked a plucked Turkey. Check out "Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most" on that "Like Some In Love".But great question because it's broad based and gives a lead on some I have not heard yet.

Oh yeah check out Deborah Brown.Great American singer who is little known.Find her "Jazz For Jazz: recording with American ex-pats Horace Parlan,Ed Thigpen, and Red Mitchell (take a listen at AMG or Amazon).Had another great LP "Eurboppin'" but impossible to find (almost) on Alfa Jazz.Great singeing, great bands.Shame she needed to make career in Europe and is not known here.
