I had BACHH4MAC installed about 3 weeks ago and in my system this has been on the level of a major component upgrade. I use a Sonnet Pasithea DAC, that was fed by a Hermes streamer. Mac Mini with USB to the Pasithea is a step backwards in SQ for this DAC, the Pasithea prefers an I2S connection. Installing a DDC so I can connect I2S solved that issue. After the purchase, Edger from Theoretica Applied Physics did the install via ZOOM meeting, this is SOP for the software, as he wants to make certain everything is dialed in correctly. I have put a lot into my system; upgraded power feed ie outlets, pc's, earth grounding, room treatments, fuses, isolation many other various tweaks and my system was already sounding very good. It already had a huge soundstage, wider than my speakers, very good instrument separation, lots of micro detail, great resolution top to bottom. But- with the software running, I hear even more detail. The soundstage expands way beyond my speakers, as though my room has gotten much bigger. On some recording the sound comes out to my listening position. With the software running, nothing is taken away, but more is added. I cannot comment on what you heard at Axpona, as I did not hear a demo prior to my purchase, but from my experience, it is as advertised. I plan on eventually upgrading to the audiophile version, but could happily live with the intro version
Experiences with BACCH4Mac software?
I heard the effect of this software at Axpona and was totally blown away, no question. They have a variety of offerings, but the subject software is the only one that would fit in my budget. I stream digital music via Audirvana from my newish iMac with my recorded music on an HDD. I have heard that this budget version for the iMac is rather hit and miss. Can anyone chime in with experience with this software? If it works like I heard at Axpona and isn't too complicated to set up, they will get my $980 very quickly.
