Has anyone tried using the D70 dac directly without a preamp? I am considering it and am curious as to how good the digital volume control is in this device.
I have a p70/d70 combo driving directly a Gryphon Antileon power amplifier. The digital preamplifier built in the d70 surpasses the Gryphon bel canto line amplifier considerably: no noise, wider soundstage and greater detail.
