EMM Labs XDS1 vs ARC CD8

I have owned an EMM Labs XDS1 for a couple of years but am itching to try something else, namely the Audio Research CD8. Has anyone had an opportunity to compare these two players or an informed opinion of the virtues of solid state vs tubes CD players? My amplification comprises ARC Ref5se and darTZeel 108 NHB power amp, and my listening preferences are classical and acoustic jazz.
