I liked her recordings for a long time, but, really first took serious notice of her artistry when I heard a collection of Mozart concert arias on Philips about 20 years ago.
I've been a fan of Elly Ameling ever since I heard her Mahler Fourth one evening on the radio, some time in the 1970's. I was instantly a Mahler fan and a classical vocal fan, as well. I went to the local record store not long afterwards. They had the record. I bought it. Over the years I've continued to listen to her work. Saw her in concert once, too.
