Effect of 12 volt trigger wire on sound

Due to the general experience that wires degrade sound, I tried adding/removing the 12 volt trigger wire to see if it made a difference. Difference it made, but opposite of what I expected! My system sounds better with the wire than without. The sound is fuller and more natural, though without the wire, the highs are more clear. Did any of you detect any difference with and without 12 v trigger wire? And what do you think is making the difference?
