Dynaudio Audience 8

I know Dynaudios get good reviews but there are so many different models that I can't keep up, or even begin to understand what is what. Are the dynaudio audience 8's nice sounding speakers? Where do they fit in the line and about how old are they?

Audience 8 speakers are similar to the Contour 30 speakers. They sound great. Much less expensive since they are MDF with laminate as opposed to MDF with veneer. Definitely worth considering if you get them in good shape.
Oh also the 30’s have a 2 1/2 way crossover versus the 8’s that have a straight 2 way. Less phase shift on the 8’s.
The Audience 8 was replaced by the Audience 70. Not much difference between the two except a beveled plinth and front ports on the 70. The 8 had rear ports. Those were then replaced by the Contour 30 produced today. The 30 of course has the new esotar tweeter while the 8 has the old esotec.
Excellent frequency response, power handling, and sensitivity. Probably the nicest part is due to its simple 2 way crossover, the 8 has minimal phase shift and therefore are probably some of the most accurate speakers out there.
Crossovers and woofers are solid. Tweeters are quite fragile though, and if you can get a pair with good tweeters, grab them.  I am amazed - they can rock the house easily and also create a 3D soundstage that is dead accurate.  I find they can easily overpower a room. Caution, they will expose the flaws in your source material and signal path.
