Doug Schroeder Method, Double ic

I think this topic deserves its own thread , where use double ic through y adapters , from source to preamp, Can’t connect it from Preamp to Amp...For me the result is huge, I can’t go back to single ic....

Have you ever discussed the construction of a double XLR cable with Gary?
Many thanks for your help.

Has anyone tried this method with S/PDIF(RCA) or AES/EBU?  Or have any observations on the practicality?  I have a CD transport I still use.

If this has been covered earlier in the thread, I apologize for not looking for it.
Then there is the issue of using splitters vs. an actual co-joined cable (which has been said to be better).

In posts on comparisons, it would be nice to know which configuration is being used.
I have a set of those XLR ICs and an AES/EBU cable on order from HAVE .

But I do not have any hideously expensive conventional XLR ICs or AES/EBU cables to compare them to.

To shield or not to shield - That is the question.  Thank you for pioneering this with the HAVE Star Quad so there is an apples to apples comparison for RCA.

As I mentioned, I have some HAVE co-joined, shielded XLR ICs and AES/EBU cable(s) coming.    Have successfully used shielded and unshielded XLRs.  Prefer shielded AES/EBU.

Have you tried a set of doubles with the Duelund 20ag?
If so, are they RCA or XLR?
Don't I ask a lot of questions?

Good for you.  Whenever you get around to it, it would be nice to know your observations.
" ...
Mind if I ask what components in your system you will be trying it on? No class D amplification, right? "

Doug - The above is is an excerpt from your 10/24 post to stringreen.

I have a Class D amp.  What are the issues when using a "double?"

I guess the jury's still out on the double run from preamp (or anything) to a Class D amp.

taras22's post re: Red Dragon amps was on 2-3-19 at 1:48 PM

"For what its worth have used our cables with Red Dragon amps and had no trouble. "

Subsequently, you asked:
2-3-19     9:07 PM
"Taras22, have you or Ken tried any of your double double IC assemblies with a class D amp?"

douglas_schroder then responded:

2-3-19  9:30 PM
"Yes, the Red Dragon is class D; I reviewed it for Dagogo.com and it sounds like they tried the Double Double with it."

taras22 did not respond to your question above; doug schroder did, saying that it ' sounds like ' they tried the double double.

I did not read this as taras22 saying that he tried the double double with the Red Dragon without issue.

Has anyone tried the SM with RCA or XLR between preamp and a 1200AS Class D amp?

Thanks.
I am using an Audio Sensibility SM Impact SE between DAC and preamp and a Canare SM DA 202 AESEBU between CD transport and DAC.   I prefer this combination to single runs.

I find that the single AESEBU and analog XLR cables sound somewhat anemic in comparison, not as full bodied or dimensional.

I have a  Canare SM L-4E5C STAR QUAD, but am skittish about  using it between a 1200AS amp and the preamp.
Doug - Then (1) Audio Sensibility double XLR cable used as an AES cable worked well with the Comet DAC?  Since I have a set of them  (Audio Sensibility Impact SE double XLR),  I had been wondering about trying one for AES duty.

The only thing stopping me was the length - not long enough.
celander - Which SM AES cable are you going to listen to?

I look forward to your findings.
