Do true audiophiles own Mcintosh gear

Brooks carries Mcintosh? I was in his shop 6 months ago and he didn't have it. I'm going to give him a call.

WWW.Records what I said is not Bogus! Shelleys Stereo is a mid-fi store that carries Mcintosh. There other lines are Yamaha, Rotel, Adcom, Rega, Arcam, etc, etc. That is mid-fi as far as I am concerned. The other store Audio Concepts also carries Mcintosh. They are also a mid-fi store that carries similar products to Shelleys. There is only one hi-end store that I know of in Southern California that carries Mcintosh. I think he carries it because he has a large Asian clientele and they seem to like Mcintosh.

After reading all the responces I guess audiophiles do listen to Mcintosh. If you just talked to the dealers in Southern California you would never know that. I'm glad I started this thread. Now I'm interested in Auditioning some Mac tube gear.

I was the original op on this post and I have since heard a lot of mc gear. Even though I think it is good stuff I still prefer my ARC gear better. I think the Mac gear has better resale than ARC. The funny thing is 8 years since I started this thread Mc and Arc are owned by the same company. Who would of ever guessed that 8 years ago.

I think Mc intosh is fine gear. I even own a mint Mr-78 tuner though I never really use it. I just think their turntable looks ridiculous. Meters on a TT. Please.

The bottom line is Mc intosh doesn't even build their own TT. I believe clear audio makes it for them. It's made for the guy that wants it to match his other Mc gear. Call it what you will, but that is a fashion statement in my book.

I would love to sell it but believe it or not my wife likes it. I guess even some woman like the look of Mc intosh. Go figure!
