Do old Acoustats compete with new 'stats or dynamics

I listened to a pair of Acoustat X's driven by their Servo Tube Amp, Audio Research SP-3A-1 preamp, Micro Seiki table with totl Signet cart and it was a captivating presentation that started me on the road of High End Audio. Will the newer Acoustat models through the Spectra series still compete or hold their own against newer speaker designs? I am talking about soundstaging, imaging precision, frequency balance and overall impact.

Sold a lot of 2+2, with right amp and room they sing

i always preferred my self built HQD system with wood stands, stacked ESL, Decca Ribbons and 2x Infinity-Watkins ina transmission line enclosure, CJ power... sublime.

Budda loved that system

A friend is looking for Acoustat panels (8"amnd 9") as used on the "X, the 1+1, 2+2 etc.

Leads are appreciated.  Will be shipped to Europe

Preferences vs compromises

I bought new a pair of Acoustat X speakers (Direct coupled tube amps and good sounding but amps were unreliable) and then later I acquired a pair of Acoustat Model 4s (four panels per, in a flat plane.

A few years ago I hooked them up and there was hum emanating from them (after they sat unused for awhile). I sent the transformers for rebuild to Roy Esposito in FL and the speakers have worked and they sound excellent.

For what I could sell them for (and my preferences in an audio playback system} I am convinced that I could not find a better sounding speaker for five times that amount.

As a point of reference, I own two pairs of Sound Lab speakers. with both pairs having the latest speaker and backplate upgrades.
