YES! The filters roll off the response to the amp and the subs are set to compensate for that roll off. If you don't use a filter you will overdrive the subs and damage them. I would recommend getting a fixed crossover rather than using the WX-2, consult the owners manual or the Vandersteen website on how to do this.
