DIY Power umbilical chord questions?

I am trying to make a power umbilical chord (Upgrade from the original standard) on my own, a DIY DC umbilical chord for my Logitech Touch (Connecting my Logitech Touch and CIA upgraded power supply). I am aware that I can purchase one of these not so commonly marketed umbilical chord from one or two makers but I rather make one on my own since I need a 6 to 8 foot length.
Any recommendation on a bulk power cable I could use to make a chord for this application. Truly appreciate any input. Please recommend any special high quuality connectors and especially the power cable itself, flexibility will help. Thanks
