DIY Balanced Interconnect Connectors

I'm going to put together some Mogami 2534 cables for my balanced connection and I will be using Markertek as a source. They have a number of Neutrik connectors availabe, which would be the least expensive, functional type to get? There's different number of pins and such, can't figure out which one is needed for the Neglex. Also, if someone can point me to a good tutorial on assembling this type of cable, I've looked for about an hour and can't find one, you'd think there'd be a good step by step procedure out there.

"Don't forget that you want to put the plug body, clamp/strain relief and end plug on PRIOR to crimping/soldering your wires!!"

I've had to redo countless connections in the past and will most likely continue to have to re-do them in the future, but nice try.

I wanted a custom length, got the suggested connectors and 10' of wire for 2 interconnects, $35 shipped.
Johngp, all's good. I'm a hobbyist and this type of thing (forgetfulness) has happened to me more times than you know, no matter how careful I've tried to be. Nothing more meant by the comment. Thanks for the post, very thorough information sensibly presented.
"The female plug is the start of your signal path, so, if the wire you use is directional you want the signal to begin with the female plug(source) and end at the male plug, say your preamp or amp. Follow me?"

The Mogami 2534 does not appear to be directional. Should the writing on the cable go from right to left (as you would read it) from female to male? I'd like to duplicate how the Gold Studio cable is configured.
That's what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I may not need these cables due to a change in plans. Now will need RCA cables. This neglex cable will make good signal wire from the RCA jack to the potentiometer for a DIY project I'm going to build soon, so it will get used.
