However good the Bridge is, I don't believe it will beat a direct hardwired connection.
Are you familiar with the Bridge? You are connecting to the computer via ethernet.
According to Ted Smith and reviews, DirectStream is agnostic to inputs and SHOULD sound the same. With PWD MKII, bridge was very unstable requiring constant reboots but very stable with DirectStream. My brother has DirectStream with bridge for many many months and hasn't required one reboot yet.
With Bridge, you don't need a computer in your system but an ethernet connection to your router or a wireless ethernet hub and then run DLNA server on a computer. Logitech Media Server, Miniserver, JRiver ... With JRiver, you can play DSD files. Personally I prefer Logitech Media Server when I had PWD MKII w/bridge.
