Difference b/t EL34 and 6C33C Amps for Quads

On the quest for the "right" tube amp for my Quad 988's, I'm currently considering the new Wolcott stereo amp (120 watts & 4 EL34's per side) and the Quicksilver "Triode" amp (50 watts and two 6C33C's per side). I've heard that the Quads sing well on 100 wpc, but on the other hand, Quad's own tube amps II-40's) put out 45 wpc. The 6C33C is used by Lamm, BAT, and Tenor. The Wolcott's are known to sound great on Quads. I could use some advice as to what differences to expect between these amps. The Wolcotts would likely end up costing me a significant bit more. Thanks Alot!

I use to own 988s and I had the opportunity to hook them up to the Tenor amps that I just bought for several days. I had never heard the Quads sing with such dynamics or if possible with more ease and transparency.
Had it not been that I could not afford to keep both, the Kahrmas and the 988, I would have kept them both.
It was pure joy of music.
DEAR PETER:

I AM AN OWNER OF QUAD 988'S WHO ORIGINALLY STARTED WITH THE
QUAD SOLID STATE 909 POWER AMP. THE SOUND WAS MEDIOCRE UNTIL
I PURCHASED THE THOR TPA-30 MONOBLOCKS. MY DEALER, WESTCHESTER STEREO TURNED ME ON TO THE THOR LINE OF TUBE
COMPONENTS AND I'VE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THE SOUND COMING FROM MY QUADS. ALSO I PURCHASED THE THOR TPA-2000 PREAMP
WITH A PHONE STAGE. THIS ALSO MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE SOUND OF MY SYSTEM. GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY THE QUADS.
