DH Labs Silver Sonic Power Plus Cable / DIY Power Cords

I would be grateful for any feedback from the forum with regard to the following.

There's a some positive reviews for DH Labs Silver Sonic Power Plus which looks like a well designed high quality cable (see link below). It  has 3 x 12 AWG  copper cores which I believe will be good for my amps (400W class A mono blocks).

I can buy this cable in the UK for £40 per metre (no doubt its cheaper in the US!) and so with a UK plug (silver £10) and an IEC (Silver £20) it looks like I could build two very decent quality, 1m power cords for £140.

Any advice please as to anything I should be taking into account?
Are IEC's any harder to wire up than a standard plug?
Should i use some CAIG deoxit gold on the connections?

Thanks very much for your advice

Hi Steve. Thanks very much for your advice and recommendations. The  SonarQuest silver plated copper IEC looks like a really good connector for sensible money and clearly you know your stuff!  I have also checked out your website and the Helix range you have developed. Interesting reading and was a great to help  for me to understand both the basic principles and also how far you can take a DIY cable project. Very impressive. I am not quite as "handy" as you kindly suggested but i am definitely up for avoiding over paying for cables whilst also hitting a decent quality. Thanks again, I really enjoyed reading your post and website.
