Denon dvd players and top menu of dvd-a discs

Does anyone besides me have problems with Denon dvd players reading, or I should say, not reading the first menu of dvd audio discs? By the first menu I mean the menu that allows you to select the playback mode, enhanced definition stereo, enhanced surround etc. I have had three different denons and they all fail to read the first menu and go straight to enhanced surround. Any fixes?
