Denon DVD 2500BTCI Won't Play Blu Rays

My Denon 2500 worked like a charm for 2 months. Then stopped playing blu rays. Regular DVDs and CDs play fine. After trying to load I get a disc error message. Firmware is current. Have re-initialized. Have unplugged it several times.
Denon has told me to send the thing back and I am trying to see if anyone has a solution short of sending it to NJ for 6-8 weeks.
