I'd venture to say if the switch works ok then it must be the relay, have you tried to replace it ? This of course it you can find a replacement.

Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to help out! Peter, I think you may be right about the relay. I note that there is also a 7400 IC in the circuit...could it be possible that this is not working correctly?
