I cannot speak to the 3910, however, I do have a Bel Canto DAC ver 1.1 connected to my Denon 2800 MKII which I am very pleased with. The player was well reviewed for both DVD and redbook CD playback, however, in my experience( with the addition on the DAC), redbook CD sound is more immediate with greater resolution, extended highs, and overall much more involving. Initially, I found CD playback on the Denon comparable to most "CD' players in its price range, but with the addiction of the BC DAC - the difference was immediate.
