Yes, it is directly related to the type of table(suspended or unsuspended), as well as the arm being used. I have made some hanging counterweights for my OL Silver on my Teres, and they have surpassed the standard counterweight and some aftermarket ones too. But it wouldn't be suitable on a springy table.
Decoupled versus hard-mounted counterweights.
On a vintage Empire suspended table I've made great improvements via a tightly attached CW, but am aware of benefits claimed/sought for cw's as decoupled as possible on solid tables (using fishing line). Is there agreement on this regarding suspended versus non- tables? Does it vary according to entire arm design? Only curious, but very curious!
