DAC for CAL CL-10

Any advise on a used DAC for my system. CL-10 feeding BAT vk3i to McCormack DNA 0.5 dlx to Vandersteen 2cis? Also cable. Want to spend $500-1000, used. Saw a Theta on this site today (cant remember model, maybe BAsic pro III) near the top end of this range. Would want a significant upgrade from built in DAC in CL-10. Can it happen for the money I want to spend?

check out a Cal Alpha, this little unit is by far the most bang for the buck

I agree with the CAL Alpha. I personally use the Alpha with the Delta transport. It's tubes, so you can swap out the tubes and fine tune your sound. The difference a good set of NOS tubes make is incredible. You can find an 18bit Alpha well within your budget. dh
