I just can't stand someone I know not getting this 2 arm plinth

https://www.ebay.com/itm/324409089345

together with this spinner

https://www.ebay.com/itm/324554946167?hash=item4b90fb7677:g:5fMAAOSwVHRgZfDb

combined around $800. incl tax

then take your time picking a long and a short arm while the plinth is re-finished by you or a shop.

I like mine so much I have to resist 'buy it now' everyday.

found this while looking for garage/shop amp: I need to drive 2 pairs of speakers, and wanted remote volume and a phono stage.

this Rotel is modified for remote volume, has phono stage, only 1 pair of speakers,

this listing uses the name Heroic, in lieu of Eroica, but it is the Goldring Eroica LX, at the best price I can find

https://www.ebay.com/itm/255047544443?hash=item3b6204ae7b:g:DZUAAOSwqTNg5EKV

same one, -10 euro on italian site

I was looking for Eroica LX because I just resurrected one in my system for a friend. A few years old, never played, he found it and he has no SUT, so here it came!

It sounds soooo good, I highly recommend it. I have been thinking of starting a thread about it. I compared it against my AT33PTG/II Line Contact on aluminum; My Shure V15Vxmr body with Jico SAS on boron.

My 3 arms/sut with 3 inputs makes comparisons so easy and quick, you just need to get the ’equal volume’ positions figured out first then off you go.

After playing several new and clean lp’s, I played my old beat up version of Eurythmics Sweet Dreams. That stylus shape gets down in the grooves, digs stuff out, it is very sensitive, it wants clean records more than the AT or Shure. Perhaps others here know more about it.
My main system's speakers are new wood enclosures with vintage electro-voice drivers (horns and 15" woofer), crossovers, L-Pads from a Fisher President II Console made in 1958. The drivers in the horns are impregnated fabric, they last indefinitely, the woofers can be re-coned, the L-Pads can be replaced. Replacement horns and woofers can be acquired.

electro-Voice Model Six was amazing, and unique, it incorporated 5 separate sound profiles via a resistor based attenuator circuit, horns, and an 18" woofer.

I am tempted every day by the ones near me.

Nearly New, good savings

Rothwell SUT, MC1, 220 Euros, or $262. usd plus shipping from Ireland (ask for price). New: $280 euro, $333. usd. Seller says a few months old.

I just happen to be looking for a SUT for my friend’s MC cartridge.

By design, this SUT 12.9 x-factor shows 100 ohms loaded impedance to the MC Cartridge. For many cartridges, fixed 100 ohm load can be an advantage. (typical 12.9 x-factor shows 283 ohms to the cartridge).

Rothwell says for cartridges with .3 to .7 mv signal strength; for coil impedance less than 20 ohms. 100 ohms is the ’ 10x formula’ of a coil with 10 ohms.

i.e. my friend’s Goldring Eroica LX .5mv signal, 8 ohm coil resistance. Goldring recommends 100 ohm loading. .5mv x 12.9 x-factor = 6.45 mV signal to MM input (allow for a small amount of signal strength loss).

i.e. my AT33ptg/II .3mv, 10 ohm coil impedance. only 3.87 mV signal; formula’s 100 ohm load. A bit low signal strength for me, I use my SUT’s 20.68 x-factor: 6.02 mV which shows 110 ohms to my 10 ohm cartridge.

Note: no MM Bypass; single input, it’s a specific solution which keeps the cost down.

This Entre ET-100 has 3 inputs, MM Pass, and 3 optional settings

I chose this one, Fidelity Research FRT-4: 3 inputs, MM Bypass; 4 optional settings

40 ohm setting

for any cartridge with coil impedance 40 or less. designed specifically for Denon Cartridges DL 103 and DL 103s
1:10 x-factor, +26db

3 ohm setting

for any cartridge with coil impedance 3 or less
(compared to others, probably 1:36 x-factor, +31 db, verify)
Well, who knows about this Tube Preamp. Seems high quality, a true bargain, $400. or make offer, 14 day returns.

manual is informative

http://akdatabase.org/AKview/albums/userpics/10007/Sound%20Valves%20VTP101%20Owners%20Manual.pdf

it’s processor loop would allow out to self-powered sub, back in, then out to a low powered amp that would not need to make low bass, the easiest way to use a small tube amp. keeps heat, size, weight, cost lower, and gives more placement options.

old thread here was complimentary, no problems mentioned

I found this about blown fuses, blown transformer, not sure if a common problem, does anyone know?

https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/sound-valves-vtp-101-need-help.772880/

........................

I wrote the owner/seller, it's his unit

"Hi,

I found some good stuff about this unit, then I found comments about blown fuses, and eventual blown transformer. Does this unit have any history of blown fuses, or transformer?

I see no top vent, did this unit had good open space at it's side vents, above, behind etc, during your years of use?

thanks, Elliott"

sellers answer about the Sound Valves Tube Preamp:

"Hi,

I remember sending it for repair under warranty once. But I don't recall the details - but I don't think it was a blown transformer. Also note that this is 101 and not 100.

This was in my 3 tier audio rack ( one for amp, one for pre-amp and one for CD player) with lots of free space. I always baby my audio equipment."
somebody snapped up the JVC 2 arm plinth and TT71 around the same time. Smart!

Anyone here?
this popped up, seems like a good deal to me

https://www.ebay.com/itm/324716283861?hash=item4b9a9947d5:g:eU4AAOSwgBZg8NGQ

fixed/sold with warranty by maker, lots of features

has HT Bypass, a cool feature we thrashed about in this thread (I started it wrong, by the end all was clear)
