Just conjecture on my part, since I haven’t heard the new driver, but I have been following six moons for quite some time and heard some of the same equipment so I feel I have a general frame of reference, I welcome the change or perhaps addition -maybe they should make both drivers available. Srajan doesn’t seem to suggest that the new driver is better, just different. However, I think it’s great there might be a single driver speaker with a warmer tonal balance. Not everyone wants to dance on the knifes edge but still enjoys the things that single driver speakers do well such as easy to drive, no driver discontinuities, great imaging, etc. Just my two cents.

@David_ten

+1 on impedance and frequency response graphs of the two drivers.

FYI, I spoke with the two California dealers the other day and neither one had heard of the V2 driver. Guess it will be a while before they have them.

Does anybody listen to their Nenuphars in the near field? I'm guessing they would work well, but you never know and would love to hear about anyone's first-hand experience. Thanks.

@ David_ten

perfect. I was thinking about 5 to 7 feet. Nearfield could be closer in a small room or a desktop type setting, but not for speakers design for 20-40m² rooms. 5 feet is as close as I would want to get. I bet your Imaging and depth of field are out of this world (I assume they are out of the room).

New Cube Audio info dropped recently on 6moons.

Everything seems straightforward, except I wonder if the Nenuphar with the new v2 driver's efficiency has, in fact, decreased to 90 DB. That's the spec they are shooting for with the new Jazzon speaker and F10 select driver ("Driver efficiency had to be cut back a little bit").

I've been following this thread for some time and think it's interesting and folks are quite helpful and informative. Hope you don't mind a couple of questions:
1) if the Cube driver was designed specifically for amps with low damping factor, why would they work well on the Bakoon 13r and selected other solid-state amps. They must have a significantly higher damping factor than most tube & First Watt, etc. offerings.
2) as anybody heard the Camerton Binom-1 speaker with its unique single driver? Six moons gave it quite the review. Doesn't seem to be any distribution in the US. I also noticed that the driver was recently revised, not sure if it's showing up yet and any products.
@david_ten,
Thanks for asking. Yes, pretty much, especially when stephen dunn chimed in and said that his Vinny Rossi integrated sounded even better when he put resistors into lower the damping factor. Still curious about the Bakoon. I have not been able to find a figure on the web for its damping factor, but it's unique Satri circuit could have something to do with it. Seems like low damping factor is a good rule of thumb, though there may always be outliers.

I checked out the recent YouTube videos comparing the Nenuphar and the Jazzon. With the caveat that I don't have the best headphones, I found the Nenuphars to be noticeably more engaging than the Jazzons. They just had a liveliness that the Jazzons did not. I didn't hear nearly as much difference between the V1 and V2 drivers within the Nenuphars family. The two versions sounded very similar to me - again in my admittedly modest headphone set up.
