Combining a Krell KCT preamp with Hegel 30 amp and Thiel CS 6 speakers

I have the chance to buy a used Hegel 30, (my Krell FPB 300cx crapped out again) and use it with my Krell KCT preamp and Thiel CS6 speakers.  I read elsewhere on Audiogon that the Hegel was a high gain amp and needed a low gain preamp.  I don't know if this is true or if I should worry about the combo.  Any advice would be appreciated.  The price on the Hegel is a good one.
