Clearview Ultrathin interconnects and humming

I just purchased a pair of Clearview Ultrathins ribbon interconnects and I am getting an excessive amount of hum. Is this a common problem with this type of interconnect? Is it a grounding problem? Can static electricity blow a solid state amplifier? My amp blew when adjusting the position of the clearview interconnects and I am wondering if there was a static build-up!! Thank you.
