Classic DAC - Bel Canto 2.0?

How about some input/opinion on this DAC? What is the difference between the 2.0 and 1.1 versions? Has anyone found the differences to be musically meaningful? I am in the mood for a new DAC and this one looks quite interesting except for the side mounted cables (who wants to see them sticking out of our gear?).

Any suggestions for musical DACs in that same price range - $1,400-$1,500.00? Thanks, guys.

Shuang,

Do you know what the techincal differences are? I understand it's only that the 2.0 outputs 192khz. Is this correct or or there other changes/modifactions?

Thanks.
I can't comment on differences between the Bel Canto 1.1 and 2.0, since I only own the 2.0, however I constantly amazed at the rich and detailed sound that it extracts from CDs.

I am only using a lowly Toshiba SD-4700 DVD as a transport! I use a DIY Chris VH Pulsar digital cable, Homegrown Audio Silver Lace analog IC, Mapleshade Silclear on all contacts, and excellent DIY silver PCs throughout my component chain.

If you sell your DAC 1.1, it makes the upgrade price more palatable.

In Canada we are lucky because we get excellent prices from Everest Audio. They ship to the US, however I am not sure if customs charges make it unfeasible.
