That is a killer deal on the Chord! Would you mind directing me to your dealer?
Chord Carnival Silver Screen vs. AQ GBC
I have just undergone a complete signal chain upgrade on my 2-channel turntable-based system, from the cartridge to the phono stage to a brand-new Onkyo A-9555 integrated amp I just got today, out to a pair of Mirage OMD-15s I got about 6 weeks ago.
I really like my interconnects: I'm using Audio Advisor's special run of high-purity OCC Black Mamba interconnects with their silver RCA. For speaker cables, however, I'm making do with a double run of Kimber Kwik-16 to bi-wire the Mirages (they like bi-wiring).
So I'm thinking--without getting nuts on the cost--of bi-wiring with one of these choices: Chord Carnival Silver Screen or the discontinued 12-gauge AudioQuest GBC.
My local Chord dealer sells Chord Carnival Silver Screen (which I heard and was impressed with) at $3.50/linear foot, and terminates with nice bananas at a parts'n'labor price of $4/banana. Biwiring requires a double run, single-terminated at one end. So for the 12' run I need, the total with all necessary bananas would be $216.
Or I could get a 12' pair of perennially-on-closeout long-grain-crystal AudioQuest GBC terminated with silver bananas for $121.95, marked down from about $300.
Who has experience with either or both of these cables? Are the AQ GBCs hopelessly out of date? I am predisposed to like multi-gauge solid core designs like the AQ.
