Must be an older generation thing. Maybe the guy is not married, and maybe he doesn't have a bossy wife controlling his every penny and purchase.

We have a partnership as well, but neither of us controls the expenses of the other. I find that a lot of men will bend to their wife's complaints about how systems or components look, but have no say if their wife has 60 pairs of shoes or picks ugly furniture :-)
