Cheap HT and, forgive me, Bose

I keep my music and TV systems completely separate and don't care much about the TV. But, for reasons I'll spare you, I'm thinking about a very basic, cheap, easy-to-set up HT system for one room and find the alleged simple, wireless, DVD player included Bose 3.2.1 GS Series II appealing in concept at $1100. However, have picked up on the fact that no one on Agon seems to have much regard for the brand, was wondering what other recommends the board might have.

The only reason to consider that Bose system is if you cannot accommodate 5 speakers for some reason. I'd also stay away from any system employing single-driver satellites. You can buy a name-brand (e.g. Sony, Yamaha, Pioneer) receiver for under $200 if you shop around (check J&R), plus a DVD player for $50-60. For speakers, go with Paradigms: 4 Atoms, a CC-170, and a PDR-8 sub. The whole kit should cost you about $1200.
